The Club is pleased to announce Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) has awarded two full football scholarships to Monash City players Alistair Bray and Curran Ferns. Both boys played for the Monash U15 Super League last season and have been selected for the 2009 VIS squad after an extensive trial period lasting 3 months.

The boys will travel to Canberra at the end of January to play in the national 'Institute Challenge' which showcases Australia's most talented 14, 15 and 16 year olds from NSW, QLD, SA, TAS and WA. In April 2009 both Alistair and Curran will travel to France to represent Australia involving national squads from countries such as France, Italy and Croatia.

The VIS will compete with teams in the Foxtel Cup U21 Premier League Reserves. The players train and play 5 or 6 days a week at the Darebin International Sports Centre and Lexus Centre next to Olympic Park. Besides regular football coaching, the players will participate a strength and conditioning program, and a special Judo program to improve their balance and body contact skills.

We wish the boys best of luck in their football careers. Former U15 players Stipo Andrejevic and Chris Frangou have also been invited for trials and are in the running for remaining full and half scholarship places.
