The Monash U14 Super League squad concluded its 2007 post-season program with a memorable tour of the Australian Capital Territory (9 - 13 December 2007) playing 3 games against the best ACT players in the U13 and U14 age groups. The squad stayed at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) residences to fully utilise the country's state of the art training facilities. The accommodation package included all meals at the AIS 'all-you-can-eat' buffet-style bistro, access to Internet computer room, and use of recreation room facilities. The team activities schedule included a morning training session every day, guided tour of the facilities, afternoon trip to the local cinema and shops, evening game on the AIS synthetic football field, and recovery session in the AIS pool, sauna and ice-bath. On the final day of the trip, the squad's morning session was coached by Ian Shaw who is the Technical Director of Capital Football.

For their first game, the squad first played a very competitive ACT U13 squad wining by a comfortable 4 - 0 margin. The Monash players being a year older were too strong, although the ACT U13s might have grabbed two goals if not for great saves by goalkeeper Alistair Bray. In the second game, the squad defeated Canberra FC U14s by 5 goals to nil. Canberra FC had won every league game in their age group during the regular winter season and were clearly not at the same match fitness level due to lack of intense training over the last 2 months. In the final game, Monash faced the ACT U14 squad which had recently represented their Territory at the national championships at Coffs harbour. The ACT was coached by AIS scholarship coach Derek Gibson and were very well organised. Numerous attacking raids by Monash were broken down by good pressing and cover defending of the ACT players who were happy to sit back and try to hit on swift counter-attacks. The plan worked and Monash found themselves 1 -0 down in the first third of the game. Monash did not give up trying to find an opening and eventually took control and equalised through James Muscara. The players gained confidence and in the final third of the game began to dominated with ACT just hanging on. Kojo Brown eventually scored a dramatic winner with 30 seconds remaining. The team celebrations had barely ended when the referee blew for full-time. A memorable effort for all those who witnessed the game. The players now have a well earned rest and will recommence for the 2008 season during week beginning Monday 14 January.
